1972 too!

I am one of the kids there - surrounding the favorite local clown of the day, Patof... Patof was played by comedian Jacques Desrosiers... Oh, and whatever you do, do not blame the poor fashion sense of a seventies kid! ;) Sure, I liked Patof just fine... But I was really a true fan of Monsieur Tranquille - the oftentimes singing puppet...! So ironic that ''M.T.'' couldn't use one of his hands too; years later, after the stroke, my dear old Dad would be in the real-life predicament this merely (and accidentally) mimicked... Thus, in effect, the Monsieur Tranquille ''phase'' prepared me to accept what would was to come - there are no coincidences... But I am digressing once more, rather than just reminiscing; one does not come without the other, however...!

All hail PATOF - ROI DES CLOWNS! ;)

circa 1974

(Yeah - the toons were made in 1967 but I only watched a few episodes in 1974...!)

Hmm... As a kid, I could certainly see the imaginative endeavour in making a RACE out of Hercules' name... However, I never truly enjoyed these rather primitive (in setting as in other areas) cartoon - and, now, the mere mention of the name makes me only wonder "what were they thinking?" as I chuckle...
I mean, "her culoids - his culoids" is the most innocent joke to make with the name; but far from being the only possible one somebody can make here...!
If they had no self-respect at all, these characters would start making commercials for Preparation H...! (After all, they made an attorney out of Birdman - right? There's nothing more "un-heroic" than a legal eagle, I tell ya... But that is another story - for later!)
But the estate that holds the rights to these characters has too much respect for the creators of these cartoons to ever let that happen - and I understand that and back it up 100%. R.I.P. Hanna & Barbera.
