I never liked that show - to me, HAPPY DAYS was so boring to watch I could have slept through any episode! I found Fonzie so classless, such a neanderthal (I'm happy to have noticed that, Henry Winkler, in his older days, is nothing like that!) And as for the rest of the cast - I found them utterly uninteresting! If I wanted to watch an ordinary family in the 1970s - I just had to look at my own! Still, HAPPY DAYS evokes pleasant nostalgia for me as it evokes carefree days, happy days, indeed, in which I could choose to not comb my hair and still look terrific! Days in which I could simply have fun without a single worry in the world! Days, very happy days that I could choose to play outside instead of watching this crap!
Didn't read the book - but I sure remember seeing the films with these two; and laughing so hard... Good, fun memories, indeed! Of course, it helped immensely that I was equal parts Deano... and Jerry! Every guy has a bit of both in him I do believe!
Captain Caveman - though never one of my favorites, I always thought he had potential...! In my teeny-weeny luminous mind, he struck me, from the get-go, as a sort of cross between Cousin It Addams and a Flinstone - thus, if such was the case, in my itty-bitty luminous mind, the character was doomed to never be on top of my list! Sorry, Cap Cave!
... the translation of THE OUTER LIMITS...!
Loved her to bionic bits, but...
As the Bionic Woman, I always thought...
Lindsay Wagner (or, rather, Jaime Sommers)
is basically... a living-dead cyborg!
OK - a George Romero "little zombie girl" and the Exorcist's possessed little girl are NOT one and the same - but you must admit it is pretty much the same DAMN thing! (Extirpate "pretty" from that - please!)
Equal aversion towards vampires *and* witches here;
hence, I'll stick to those good old manners
inculcated upon little luminous me waaaay back:
if you haven't got anything nice to say
(...or write... or blog...)
don't say (...) anything!
I certainly will refrain from adding on anything
about the former - as she was a sweet woman -
or the latter - as I barely knew her!
Now the next memory that triggers a surge
of instant nostalgia... saudades for those days...
and plain old thrills and chills
- is this French mini-series
based upon an old book
time almost forgot...
Shocking, eh -
that a little boy like me liked stuff like this -
back in those days!?
Never one of my faves either, the Filmation Hercules still manages to strike a very vivid nostalgic chord whenever I catch it on reruns - wherever...! Truth is, I can't believe some stations still show it - I can't stand that goat boy sidekick and, as I grew older, and read about the mythological Pan, I understood the WHY of THAT...!
I am one of the kids there - surrounding the favorite local clown of the day, Patof... Patof was played by comedian Jacques Desrosiers... Oh, and whatever you do, do not blame the poor fashion sense of a seventies kid! ;) Sure, I liked Patof just fine... But I was really a true fan of Monsieur Tranquille - the oftentimes singing puppet...! So ironic that ''M.T.'' couldn't use one of his hands too; years later, after the stroke, my dear old Dad would be in the real-life predicament this merely (and accidentally) mimicked... Thus, in effect, the Monsieur Tranquille ''phase'' prepared me to accept what would was to come - there are no coincidences... But I am digressing once more, rather than just reminiscing; one does not come without the other, however...!
